DXA SCAN
Osteoporosis is a Silent Condition in which bones become porous and weak. Progressive and potentially debilitating, it is characterized by low and decreasing bone mass, resulting in bones that are prone to fracture. Approximately 50% of women over the age of 50 have osteoporosis and are at risk for an osteoporosis related fracture. Nearly 24% of women with hip fractures die of medical complications related to the fracture within one year, and 25% of women with hip fractures never regain their independence. Osteoporosis affects more than 20 million women and 5 million men in this country.

Osteoporosis Screening & Bone Density Measurement

DXA (DUAL-ENERGY X-RAY ABSORPTIOMETRY) is the most accurate and advanced test available for measuring bone mass with excellent resolution and reproducible precision. A DXA scan is more sensitive than ordinary x-rays and can diagnose bone loss at an earlier stage. Safe and painless, the 10-minute DXA Scan is the most reliable test to determine even the earliest stages of bone loss associated with osteoporosis and a patient’s risk of bone fracture.
